The rest of the update

Filed under: Uncategorized — Vanessa @ 10:26 pm

Thank you for praying for Brock! He was MUCH better this morning and never got a fever so we were able to avoid the ER. Praise the Lord! He even ate some breakfast this morning!

I think I was telling you about the hockey game but I can’t even remember where I was at. The point is they had a great time and both of them were made to feel really special. Here’s Brock yelling “Go Barons!”

If you follow Brock Rocks on Facebook, you know his uncle was in an accident last Saturday and has a broken arm, broken neck, and directed artery in his neck. Thank you for praying for him. They ended up not needing to do surgery on his arm and he’s home now but has a long, long road to recovery ahead of him. I’d really appreciate your continued prayers for him and my sister.

We have a busy weekend of birthday parties and haircuts and Children’s Miracle Network fundraisers and church. We are so incredibly thankful to have weekends at home, full of normal-kid stuff. I pray your weekend is equally full of blessings!

update and (sudden-ish) prayer request

Let’s see…where did I leave off?

CT scan. Two weeks ago.

Good grief. I’m sorry y’all. Life is BUSY. But you already know that.

Praise the Lord, the CT results came back….not normal but normal for Brock. Everything looked unchanged from the last scan, which indicates the infection isn’t any worse.

(I have no catchy segue here, so just pretend like I do.)

So Brock LOVES hockey. Loves it. Asks to go to hockey games all the time. Sits on his PaPa’s lap at the game and repeats every. single. word. that PaPa yells. Loves it.
A week or so ago Brock got the chance to attend a game and be featured as one of “Helmer’s Heroes.” They played a little video about his story on the big screen then came over to talk to us. Brock was REALLY impressed with seeing himself on the screen. After the game we got a chance to meet Bryan Helmer and tour the locker room. He gave both Jaycie and Brock a stuffed animal, a hockey puck and a for-real-full-sized hockey stick (which has since been hidden because my walls couldn’t handle the damage). You guys. It was so nice. Brock was SO happy. And I was so thankful that everyone went to such efforts to make Jaycie feel included as well. It’s HARD being the sibling of a chronically ill child and I’m always worried

This post cut drastically short by the fact that Brock just started throwing up. And has a low fever (99.5). If it gets to 101 we’ll have to go to the ER…. I’ll keep you updated… Thank you for praying.
