Update and a Giveaway!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Vanessa @ 1:37 pm

Brock’s spinal tap yesterday was only mildly successful.  He has them done every 3 months to test for leukemia in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and to have chemo injected into the CSF.  It’s hard to get the spinal tap done correctly unless he’s very still, and he’s never very still because he always has a hard time with the sedation.  {The PA and I were reminiscing about the times he had 4 times the normal dose of ketamine and still didn’t sedate, or when we used propofol and he still didn’t sedate.}  So anyway, he moved a little when the PA inserted the needle and it nicked a blood vessel which makes testing of the CSF impossible.  We tried twice more (that’s 3 needles in his spine, if you’re counting) and the CSF never cleared.  At least we were able to get the chemo in.  If not, we would’ve had to repeat the whole thing next month.

I LOVE our PAs.  The one that did the spinal tap yesterday helped me tremendously by tracking down some information for a project I’m working on (details later).  And another PA is going to bat for us against our insurance company (again, details later).

Enough about spinal taps and insurance companies.  I have more exciting news!

From now until noon on Friday every dollar you donate to the Brock Hart Medical Fund will enter you in a drawing for a $50 gift card to Amazon!  One dollar = one entry.

Thank you so much for continuing to love and support Brock!  We’re so thankful for you!
