Brock Rocks

er, again

Filed under: Uncategorized — Vanessa @ 3:02 pm

still having fevers.  another ER trip last night.  but at least we all got to enjoy jaycie’s christmas program at church together first.

in case you’re new here, or in case i haven’t been very clear (which is more likely the case), the reason we have to go to the ER every time he has a fever higher than 101 is because he could have a bacterial infection in his blood and we have to do blood cultures from his port (the device under his skin in his chest that goes into a vein) and check a cbc to make sure his immune system is not at a dangerously low level.  i have no idea why 101 is the magic cut off number, but it is.

his blood cultures have all come back negative (which is good) but his fevers are getting more and more frequent (which is bad).

  1. Father, God, I pray the fevers go away for good and that you heal Brock of this awful disease. Give his family patience and wisdom beyond understanding…..

  2. We are praying for no more fevers! And we wish your family a very blessed and uneventful (feverless!) Christmas season. Thank you for sharing your family’s trials as you go through this very trying time in your sons life.

  4. Prayers continue to be lifted to God on Brock’s behalf. I continue to pray for complete healing for Brock. Any guy who could fight an infection for a year is mighty tough and I know that God sees the struggles that your family has endured. I pray for peaceful sleep and great dreams for all.

  5. I’m not a nurse but i’m guessing that 101 is considered a fever and anything below is considered elevated temp? We were always told that Asher has to go in if his temp went over 101 because he had a port. He had it removed a little while back since he didnt need it anymore and just keeping it for his MRIs wasn’t worth it. He has cortizone pills he takes and if his temp goes over 101 we have to triple his dosage. 101 sure seems to be the magic number. I hate seeing your updates on FB about the fevers knowing it has to be so hard to keep running to the ER. We’ll be praying that the fevers become less frequent and will soon disappear. Hang in there!
