ER, prayer requests, calendar and LTN info

How’s that for a title?

Brock woke up with a fever this morning (boo!) so we called the hem/onc clinic and they said they couldn’t fit him in to their schedule and that we’d have to go to the ER (boo!).  They did some blood work and drew blood cultures and finally let us go home (yay!) after we’d spent 6 hours in the ER (boo!).

It was a long day.

Brock’s been kind of congested lately (as have the rest of us) and so they want to treat it like it’s a viral infection (which means doing nothing) until the blood cultures show otherwise.  Honestly, I’m a little worried that it’s another line infection because he slept all day today (which is how he usually act when he has a bacterial blood infection).  But I’m PRAYING that it’s just a virus and the cultures will stay negative.  If they come back positive, I’m sure they won’t be doing the surgery on Monday.  It’d also mean that we’d be readmitted and good grief!  Can’t we just spend a few weeks at home already?

So, please.  Pray with us that this is just a virus/cold/nothing and not really another case of bacteremia.

I’m supposed to go out of town over night tomorrow.  Please pray also that God would give me wisdom about what to do – I’d hate to leave town and THEN have the hospital call us and say that the cultures were positive and we need to be admitted.  Jay is so fantastic at taking care of Brock and Jaycie (really – he does a much better job than me in a lot of areas) but I don’t want for him to have to try to juggle that scenario alone.

About the calendars: I have no idea when you can get them.  I’ll let you know as soon as I do.  I think they’ll be available at Love’s and The WalMarts.  Jay and I are trying to get some that we can sell also.

If you’re walking with us at Light The Night: I don’t know any more than you do.  This page says that the ‘festivities’ begin at 5pm, the walk starts at 6:30pm, and everything is over by 8pm.  I have no idea what the festivities include or how long the walk is.  I’m sorry!  I just know that I’ll be at The University Health Club at OU Medical Center (1000 N. Lincoln Blvd) at 5pm on Sunday.  See you there!

If you’ve donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through our LTN walk, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!  You guys have completely blown me away with your support.  I’m shocked at how much we’ve raised and I’m shocked at how many donation came from people I don’t even know.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I really can’t tell you how much we love and appreciate you all.  Your support means so much to us.

  1. Oh, golly, how DO you handle ‘normal’, ‘regular’ things like a cold (and handle not knowing if that’s what it is)?? Just like you handle everything else I guess: pray, do what’s needed, pray, and so on. You’re there on the front lines, fighting the good fight. Keep on keepin’ on, guys. Always lots of us upholding you in prayer. God bless you.
