Kidneys, redux

Filed under: Uncategorized — Vanessa @ 4:13 pm

Well we were all set to go home within the next hour and then…no.

I’m too tired to explain the whole thing.  In short: his vanc trough level was WAY too high.  They’re drawing a stat cmp and will draw another in the morning.

I know that means nothing to most of you.  Mostly, it’s just for my own record keeping.

The bottom line: pray that his kidneys are ok.  He has kidney issues anyway (between the fungal infection, the antifungals, and chemo – all of which damage kidneys).  This antibiotic he’s on (vanc) can damage kidneys too.  If the trough’s too high it means his kidneys aren’t clearing it well enough.  I think.

  1. We say a prayer for Brock every night. We will say extra prayers tonight. Stay strong…I can not imagine how tough this is.
God bless you and your family.

  2. What challenges the medicine that can cure us can also hurt us. Will pray that cmp will be good and that no damage has been done to his kidneys. Get some rest. So sorry you couldnt go home. Give our precious boy a kiss and hope all of you get some much needed rest. God Bless All of You.

  3. So sorry to hear of Brock’s setback. Hope it will be of short duration. I visted your grandma yesterday. I had been very concerned about her. We had a nice visit and it looks like she is in good hands. I hope to take my granddaughters to see her and Vernie soon. Your family continues to be in my prayers.
