Brock Rocks

The Agreement

Filed under: Uncategorized — Vanessa @ 9:33 am

Our oncologist talked with our surgeon in Tumor Board yesterday and he (the surgeon) agreed to go in and “see” what things look like.  He said he’d try to do it with a scope but if he couldn’t he’d do it “with his hands.”  (Why do doctors say things like that to parents?)  He agreed to remove the entire area of infection IF it wasn’t attached to Brock’s lung.  He feels like Brock wouldn’t be able to survive if he removed part of the lung.  If the infected area is attached to the lung then he’ll insert a catheter and hook it up to suction to try to drain it.  I’m not sure how long it would have to be in place but I would imagine for at least a week.  We don’t have a date for the surgery yet.

This infected area really NEEDS to come out.  We’ve been treating with antifungals for 5 months now and it’s still there.  We’re asking God for another miracle for Brock – that the area of infection will be contained to the pleural cavity and not attached to the lung so that the surgeon can remove it completely.

Thank you for continuing to pray with us.

  1. We are praying for a miracle along with you!!! So glad that you have all agreed on something – that in itself is a blessing. We love you all and are here if you need anything at all.

  2. Thankful they have a plan of attack. God will guide the surgeon and “his hands” with His hands. I feel confident this will work out. Act positive, positive actions will follow. 🙂 God Bless your precious family this weekend and know that I am thinking of you guys.

  3. Brocks Warriors! Let us mount up and be praying. I think of Matthew 17:19-21. I believe and have faith that God can move Brock’s mountain. My prayer, of course, is that the surgeon will get in there and will find NOTHING and we can say that our God did this! May this mountain disappear, or move to a location that it can be extracted. I know my belief barriers have been broken because of Brock-let’s not put God in a box. Whatever His plans, it is bigger than we can imagine.

  4. I have a mental picture of the Lord holding this mass of infection in His hand, so that the surgeon can go in there and just scoop it out. May it be so, and may His peace rest upon you so you can celebrate a glorious Easter together!

  5. Trusting the Lord will continue to give wisdom and great skills to all the medical staff for you, sweet precious little man.

  8. Thank you, Father, for guiding “the hands” and that the infected part will NOT be attached to the lungs and will be easily removed. I thank you, my Father God, for COMPLETE healing for this baby! I ask You to cover the parents and family with the peace that passes their understanding and give them the strength and courage they need to make it through. In Jesus name….

  10. Jeremiah 29:11 was the verse in my devotional today, and when I read it I thought of Brock and you all. We’ll be praying for the miracle, for the surgeons to have knowledge and skilled hands and that the fungal infection will bind itself up in the fluid so it can be lifted out and put in Brock’s past so DI can be started.

    Love you all!

  14. Praise God for the stubborn surgeon whose unwillingness to remove part of Brock’s lung has surely led to God’s perfect will that allows for the removal of the fungal infection while keeping Brock’s body whole! Praise God, Praise God!!! You continue to be in my prayers.
