Brock Rocks

Today was kind of a rough day all around.  The whole day wasn’t horrible but it was tough on different people at different times.  Rough on Jay and I emotionally.  Rough on Brock physically.  Jaycie had good and bad moments.  She’s clearly craving attention (and rightly so).  One of her favorite things to do is visit the Ronald McDonald room to play so Jay and I try to take her there at least once a day to spend some one-on-one time with her.  When I was there with her tonight we were playing with a dollhouse that’s there (they have a dollhouse but no dolls.  what??) and she was pretending that she, Jay, and I were taking a walk to the park.  When I asked her where Brock was (you know – the pretend invisible doll Brock) she told me he was sick at the hospital.

Brock had a rough day today with the foley.  It wasn’t easy to get put in place and this evening it’s been leaking so we’re praying that they can get it fixed without having to completely redo it.  The reason he has it is b/c he started a new drug that can cause his urine to burn his skin.

There were good moments too, though.  Jaycie has been so sweet and loving to her brother.  She and I had a fun time coloring him a picture in the Ronald McDonald room.  She also got to spend some time with her cousins today and she loved that.

The funnest part of the day?  My Aunt Colleen came up here to give Brock his first haircut.  I had originally had an appointment to take him to her salon last Thursday.  Thankfully she was able to come to us and give us this memorable “first” before he loses his hair (which should be sometime in the next week or two).

I feel like I end every post this way, but I really want to thank everyone for all you’ve done for us.  The prayers and kind words that you leave here push us though the day.  And the efforts you go to in order to show us love are astounding.  Ordering cupcakes from across the country, bringing toys and books for Brock and Jaycie, giving us tons and tons and tons of food, quarters for vending machines, a latte from Cuppies or Dr Pepper from Sonic…it’s all so overwhelming.  Thank you.  Thank you.  Thank you.  I can’t say it enough.
